Gordon County Sheriff Mitch Ralston has introduced the department’s newest K9 addition, a bloodhound named Max.

Max, a 12-month-old male, was rescued from a shelter and is now being trained to track fugitives as well as locate lost or missing persons. Known for his affable and curious nature, Max is already making a positive impression within the community.

The bloodhound’s name was chosen by students at Tolbert Elementary School, who won first place in a county-wide naming contest among elementary schools.

Max will work alongside his handler, Detective Cody Jones, as part of the Sheriff’s Office K9 team. Officials say Max’s skills will provide a valuable resource in search and rescue operations while also strengthening community engagement.
