UPDATE: Additional Charges Filed Against Fugitive in Johnson Drive Arson Case

The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office has announced significant developments in the ongoing search for fugitive Charles Timothy Battles, who is now facing additional serious charges in connection with a residential fire early this morning.
Investigating detectives have filed two counts of Attempted Murder and one count of Arson against Battles. At approximately 6 a.m., deputies and Gordon County Fire Rescue responded to a residential structure fire on Johnson Drive. A woman and a small child were inside the home when the fire began and narrowly escaped with their lives. The house was completely destroyed.
According to officials, detectives have gathered substantial evidence—including physical, electronic, and testimonial materials—directly linking Battles to the crime. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is actively assisting in the investigation.
An intensive search remains underway for Battles, who continues to evade capture. He is described as a white male, 46 years old, 5’07”, 200 pounds, and was last seen in the Johnson Drive / Boone Ford Road area around 6 a.m. He has no fixed address and is believed to be traveling on foot. Authorities warn that he is considered dangerous.

According to officials, Battles was last seen around 6:00 a.m. Saturday in the area of Johnson Drive and Boone Ford Road. Investigators believe he is traveling on foot and has no fixed address, making efforts to locate him more challenging.
The Sheriff’s Office warns the public not to approach Battles if spotted. Instead, anyone who has information about his current location or movements is urged to call 911 immediately.
