CPD Responds to Electric Bike Crash on Piedmont Street

The Calhoun Police Department responded to an electric bike crash Monday evening that left one man injured.

The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Piedmont Street near Hillhouse Drive. According to officials, the man was riding an electric bike along the edge of the roadway when he struck a drain gate at approximately 20 mph. The impact caused him to lose control and crash.

Officers arrived to find the rider conscious but suffering from a head injury. He was transported to Atrium Health Floyd for medical evaluation. His condition was not available at press time.
