Calhoun City Schools Board Vacancy:
The Calhoun City Schools Board of Education has announced a vacancy in Board Post 4 following the promotion of Shelly Hood to assistant principal at Calhoun Primary School. While the district celebrated her advancement, the promotion created a conflict of interest under Georgia law for her brother-in-law, Jeffrey M. Hood, who had been selected to fill the Post 4 seat. Board Chair Becky Gilbert George thanked Mr. Hood for his willingness to serve and congratulated Mrs. Hood on her new role, noting the board will reevaluate the process for filling the vacancy at its January work session.
