AdventHealth Gordon Launches Post-Birth Alert Bracelet Initiative
AdventHealth Gordon is introducing a Post-Birth Alert Bracelet for new mothers, designed to provide specialized care during the first six weeks after childbirth. The bracelet allows EMS and clinicians to quickly identify postpartum patients and route them to OB-trained care, improving response to complications such as severe bleeding, infections, and hypertensive crises. The hospital has also expanded its OB Emergency Department services to support postpartum patients more effectively.
Flu Activity Widespread and Severe in Georgia
Health officials are warning of a severe flu season in Georgia, with cases expected to rise following the holidays. Residents who have not received a flu shot are strongly urged to get vaccinated, as protection takes about two weeks to develop. The CDC recommends vaccination for everyone six months and older. Symptoms include fever, cough, body aches, and fatigue, with high-risk groups including older adults, young children, pregnant women, and those with chronic conditions. Preventative measures like handwashing, covering coughs, and staying home when sick remain crucial.
