Two Dead in Gordon County House Fire
Gordon County Fire Rescue responded to a residential structure fire around 8:55 a.m. Saturday in the Plainville community. Firefighters found the home heavily involved and later located two deceased individuals inside the residence. The incident remains under investigation, with preliminary information suggesting a possible space heater may have been involved. Authorities are working with the State Fire Marshal, Coroner’s Office, and Sheriff’s Office to determine the cause.
Murder Suspect Apprehended in Calhoun
Calhoun Police assisted the Doraville Police Department after investigators tracked a murder suspect to the Calhoun area near Walmart. With help from Gordon County Sheriff’s deputies, officers successfully apprehended the suspect. No additional details have been released.
Gordon County Commissioners Meeting Set
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners will hold its next regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the Judicial Building Assembly Room, located at 101 South Piedmont Street in Calhoun.
