According to Gordon County E911 Director Angie Gillman, 911 communication officers are truly the first First Responders, and she recognized four of her telecommunicators, also known as dispatchers, at Tuesday night’s meeting of the Gordon County Board of Commissioners.
On the evening of Feb. 2, 2026, just before 7:00 p.m., Gordon County 911 received an urgent report detailing a motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries on an active railroad track.
Recognized Tuesday night were Cpl. Jalynn Wyatt, Sgt. Sami Jones, Telecommunications Officer Anna Evans and Telecommunications Officer Kaitlyn Yancey.
From the time the call was made into Gordon 911 until the train was stopped was around five minutes; the whole call lasted just under seven minutes. The four ladies quickly communicated with and coordinated services with multiple agencies.
