One Dead in Wednesday Morning Crash on Highway 411

One person was killed following a three-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on Highway 411 in Fairmount in the Bartow County area, according to preliminary findings from an investigation conducted by Georgia State Patrol Post 3 in Cartersville.

Troopers responded to the crash on March 11, 2026, at approximately 11:23 a.m. on GA 61 (Highway 411) at mile marker 25 in Bartow County.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2013 Ford pickup traveling north on GA 61 crossed into the southbound lane and struck a tractor-trailer head-on. The impact caused the tractor-trailer to become disabled, and the driver lost control. The vehicle traveled onto the east shoulder and overturned across GA 61.

A 2020 Cadillac CT4, which was traveling north, attempted to avoid the crash by steering left into the southbound lane but was struck by the falling trailer.

The overturned tractor-trailer spilled a load of milk, and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was notified. GA 61 south of Dooley Springs Road was shut down after the trailer blocked both lanes.

The driver of the Ford pickup died at the scene. The tractor-trailer driver sustained a leg injury, while the driver of the Cadillac was not injured.

The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) has been notified and is assisting with the investigation.
