Fatal Crash on Highway 411 in Bartow County
One person was killed in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on Highway 411 in the Fairmount area, according to the Georgia State Patrol. Investigators say a Ford pickup crossed into the southbound lane and struck a tractor-trailer head-on, causing the truck to overturn and spill a load of milk across the roadway. A Cadillac traveling north attempted to avoid the crash but was struck by the falling trailer. The pickup driver died at the scene, the tractor-trailer driver suffered a leg injury, and the Cadillac driver was not hurt. The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is assisting with the investigation.

Calhoun Animal Control at Full Capacity
Calhoun Animal Control says its shelter is currently full and unable to take in additional dogs until space becomes available. Officials say every kennel is occupied and are asking the community to help by adopting pets or sharing adoption posts on social media. Shelter staff say each adoption helps create space for another dog in need and encourages anyone considering adoption to reach out now.

Flex Learning Friday for Local Schools
Students in Calhoun City Schools and Gordon County Schools will not report to campus on Friday, March 13, for Flex Learning Friday. The day allows students time to catch up on assignments, review lessons, or spend time reading. Teachers and staff will use the day for professional learning, collaboration, and planning.

Storms Leave Trees Down Across Gordon County
Gordon County Sheriff’s Office deputies reported several trees down on roadways early Thursday morning following overnight storms. Public Works crews are working to clear the trees, while motorists are advised to watch for standing water and possible debris on roadways. As of 6:30 a.m., officials said no flooding had been reported.
