The annual BBQ & Boogie Festival officially begins Friday night in downtown Calhoun, bringing a full weekend of live music, food, and family-friendly entertainment to the area.
Festivalgoers can expect more than 100 retail and food vendors lining the streets, along with live music throughout the weekend. Friday night’s kickoff concert will feature Guardians of the Jukebox as the headline act, setting the tone for a packed schedule of performances.
In addition to music and food, organizers have expanded this year’s event with new attractions. A 9-hole mini golf course will debut on Saturday, adding another interactive option for families. The popular Kids Zone also returns, offering activities for younger attendees, while pickleball courts will once again be set up through a partnership with Pickleball 706.
Cold beer trailers will be available throughout the festival, and organizers say the event is designed to provide a full weekend experience for all ages.
Several road closures went into effect at noon Friday to accommodate the festival footprint. Streets impacted include Court Street, South King Street, North Park Avenue, South Park Avenue, and Oothcalooga Street. In addition, the Park Avenue parking lot will be closed all day Saturday.
Local radio station Georgia 101.7 WJTH will also have a presence at the event. Morning show hosts Brent and Brandi are scheduled to appear at the station’s booth from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, where attendees can meet them and take part in station promotions.
The BBQ & Boogie Festival continues through the weekend in downtown Calhoun, with organizers encouraging residents and visitors alike to come out and enjoy the festivities.
