Gordon County EMA participated in a briefing with the National Weather Service (NWS) in Peachtree City at 2 p.m. today regarding the upcoming weather this afternoon and into the overnight period.
According to the NWS, Gordon County has a Level 2 out of 5 risk, classified as a slight risk for severe weather. Potential impacts include damaging wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour, which could down trees and power lines, heavy rainfall, isolated quarter-sized hail, and a few tornadoes.
These storms could begin in northwest Georgia and Gordon County within the next few hours so please make any preparations now and stay weather aware during this event.
