Weather Alert & Public Safety
We begin the morning with a crucial weather update. The National Weather Service is tracking a potential severe weather threat for later this afternoon and into the early evening hours. Forecast models indicate a potential squall line—a long, narrow band of intense thunderstorms—swinging through North Georgia between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM today. These fast-moving lines act like a wall of bad weather, bringing sudden temperature drops, heavy downpours, and damaging straight-line winds. Gordon County EMA Director Courtney Taylor advises all residents to stay weather-aware and ensure you have multiple reliable ways to receive warnings as this system develops.
