Families in the Calhoun City Schools district will have another opportunity to receive free meals for children this week as the school system hosts its next Summer Meal Box Distribution on Thursday, July 23.
The drive-through distribution will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the back parking lot of Calhoun Elementary School.
During the event, families will receive seven pre-packed meal boxes to help provide nutritious meals while school is out for the summer. Meal boxes will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
Calhoun City Schools is encouraging families to make plans to attend the distribution.
“Our next Summer Meal Box Distribution is just around the corner! Make plans to join us tomorrow, Thursday, July 23, to pick up your free summer meal boxes. We’re looking forward to another great distribution and can’t wait to see you there!” the school system said in a social media announcement.
The free meal program is part of the Calhoun City Schools School Nutrition Department’s efforts to ensure children continue to have access to healthy meals throughout the summer months. The program is available through the school’s summer nutrition initiative, and the institution is an equal opportunity provider.
