Among those booked into the Gordon County Jail were Dustin Blake Chenekan, 22, and Seth Jeremiah Brown, 38, both charged with criminal trespass. Connie Paola Ramirez Aleman, 22, and Angel Kaye Jones, 48, were taken into custody on simple battery charges. Additionally, Luke Lamar Mulkey, 34, faces charges including family violence battery, criminal trespass, and cruelty to children in the first and third degrees.
The Gordon County Board of Commissioners meets tomorrow evening at the Judicial Building Assembly Room, beginning with a work session at 5:00 PM followed by the regular meeting at 6:00 PM. The Sheriff’s Office is requesting approval to purchase five 2027 Ford Explorers from Prater Ford for $236,640 using 2024 SPLOST funds. Public Works is presenting two engineering task orders with EXP U.S. Services Inc., covering intersection improvements at Dews Pond Road and Lovers Lane ($213,340) and guardrail upgrades on Miller Ferry Road at Oothkalooga Creek ($12,000). Emergency Management will ask to negotiate standby debris monitoring contracts with DebrisTech and CRS, while commissioners will also consider a resolution consenting to property de-annexation from the City of Calhoun.
Calhoun City Schools officially return tomorrow for the 2026–2027 academic year. Drivers are urged to leave early, slow down in active school zones, and remain vigilant for walking students and stopping school buses.
