Turning to local public safety, a death investigation is underway in Sugar Valley after two individuals were found deceased inside a Highway 136 home on Saturday. The Gordon County Coroner’s Office has identified them as 63-year-old Thomas Bordovsky and 77-year-old Donna Naylor. Their bodies have been sent to the GBI crime lab for a post-mortem examination. Authorities report that no additional suspects are believed to be at large, and the GBI is assisting with the ongoing investigation.

In local government news, Gordon County property tax bills are officially in the mail, though they are arriving later than usual this year. County officials say a problem with an outside vendor caused the delay, making Gordon County one of the last in the state to mail them out. If you don’t want to wait on the mail carrier, your tax bill is available right now online or in person at the Gordon County Tax Commissioner’s Office.
If you are looking for a way to give back as the weather cools down, Sam Lusk of Samantha Lusk and Associates Realty joined us this morning to announce her “Keep Gordon Warm” event on December 5th. She is currently collecting new and gently used blankets, coats, socks, gloves, scarves, and hats to help those in need right here at home. You can drop off your winter clothing donations at her office on River Street.
We wrap up the news this morning with some fantastic local sports updates. Calhoun native and world No. 106 tennis star McCartney Kessler has generously donated $5,000 to the Calhoun High School tennis program. Spreading that support across the county, she also provided matching $5,000 donations to both the Gordon Central and Sonoraville tennis teams.
Finally, a massive congratulations goes out to the Sonoraville High School Phoenix, who have won the 2026 GHSA Class 3A Softball State Championship. The Phoenix defeated Appling County to bring the state title home, capping off an absolutely incredible season on the diamond.
That’s a look at your local news. I’m Brent, and we’ll be right back with more music and morning chat on WJTH.
