The Calhoun City Schools Board of Education has appointed John Robbins to serve as the Post 3 Board Member, filling the unexpired term of Dr. Stephen King following King’s recent relocation to Sandersville, Georgia.

Robbins’ appointment becomes effective June 22, 2026. He will officially be sworn into office at 7 p.m. that evening by the Calhoun Mayor and City Council.

A lifelong resident of Calhoun and a graduate of Calhoun High School, Robbins brings a background in law, business, and community leadership to the Board. He currently serves as a law partner with Brumlow, Corwin & Delashmit and is a member of the State Bar of Georgia. Robbins is also a graduate of the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program, completing the program in 2014.

Education has long been a central part of the Robbins family’s connection to the community. Robbins and his wife, Melea, have a daughter, Emily, who attends Calhoun Elementary School. Melea has spent the past 19 years teaching in Calhoun City Schools, while Robbins’ mother, Sandra, is a retired CCS educator.

“Calhoun City Schools played a significant role in shaping who I am today,” Robbins said. “As a graduate, parent, and member of a family deeply rooted in education, I am honored to have the opportunity to serve our students, staff, and community. I look forward to supporting the district’s mission of developing lifelong learners in the pursuit of excellence.”

Robbins earned degrees in Business Administration and Finance before completing both a Juris Doctorate and Master of Business Administration degree. After finishing his education, he returned to Calhoun to establish his career and raise his family in his hometown.

Board Chair Becky Gilbert George said Robbins’ experience and commitment to the community make him a strong addition to the Board.

“John brings a thoughtful perspective as a parent, attorney, business leader, and proud alumnus of Calhoun City Schools,” George said. “His commitment to our students and his passion for our community will be valuable assets as the Board continues its work to support excellence in education.”

Robbins said he is eager to begin working alongside fellow board members, educators, district leaders, families, and community stakeholders.

“Calhoun City Schools is a source of tremendous pride for our community,” Robbins said. “Our students are the heart of our community and represent its future. I am excited to work alongside fellow Board members, district leaders, educators, families, and community stakeholders to continue the tradition of excellence that makes Calhoun City Schools so special.”

The appointment ensures the Post 3 seat remains filled as the Board continues its work overseeing the district and supporting educational opportunities for Calhoun students.
