A Calhoun High School senior has been recognized for her academic success, leadership, and passion for helping others after receiving the AdventHealth Gordon Foundation Healthcare Careers Scholarship during the school’s annual senior scholarship awards night.
Daniela Sanchez was selected as this year’s recipient of the scholarship, which honors students who demonstrate excellence both inside and outside the classroom through academics, leadership involvement, and community service.
According to AdventHealth officials, Sanchez stood out for her dedication to personal growth and her commitment to serving others through healthcare.
“Throughout my experiences with my internship, CNA and EMT clinicals, I have had the opportunity to really interact one on one with patients,” Sanchez said. “Seeing how much a smile can brighten a patient’s day on one of the worst days of their lives is such a special feeling.”
The scholarship was presented by Garrett Nudd, president of the AdventHealth Georgia Foundation, as Sanchez prepares to graduate from Calhoun High School and continue her education at Mercer University.
“At AdventHealth, we believe investing in students and future leaders is one of the most meaningful ways we can strengthen the health and well-being of our communities,” Nudd said. “Daniela’s hard work, character and passion for making a difference made her an exceptional choice for this scholarship, and we are excited to support her as she begins this next chapter at Mercer University.”
Sanchez plans to pursue a career in nursing and eventually become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
The AdventHealth Gordon Foundation Healthcare Careers Scholarship is part of AdventHealth’s ongoing commitment to supporting education, strengthening local communities, and investing in future healthcare leaders throughout Northwest Georgia.
In addition to Sanchez, the AdventHealth Gordon Foundation also awarded scholarships to two college students currently pursuing healthcare-related degrees. Caitlyn Petty, a student at the University of North Georgia, is studying kinesiology and exercise science, while Katie Dillard is pursuing a nursing degree at Berry College.
The AdventHealth Georgia Foundation partners with donors and community organizations to support programs and initiatives focused on expanding access to healthcare services, advancing whole-person care, and improving the lives of patients and families across the region.
