Motorists traveling on Rome Road (State Route 53) in Gordon County experienced delays Sunday as eastbound lanes were temporarily closed to allow an air ambulance to land.
According to the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office, the eastbound lanes of Rome Road were shut down while emergency crews coordinated the landing of the medical helicopter. Officials estimated the roadway would reopen approximately 30 minutes after the closure began.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the incident that prompted the air ambulance response.
Drivers in the area were advised to use caution and expect delays until the roadway reopened.
