A new round of tax relief is now underway across Georgia, with the Georgia Department of Revenue confirming that one-time refunds are being distributed to qualifying residents.
The payments stem from legislation passed earlier this year and are expected to reach taxpayers over the next several weeks. Timing will vary based on when individual tax returns were submitted and processed.
To be eligible, Georgians must have filed state income tax returns for both 2024 and 2025, contributed taxes during those years, and have no outstanding debt with the state.
The amount each taxpayer receives is based on filing status. Individuals filing alone can receive up to $250, those filing as head of household up to $375, and married couples filing jointly up to $500.
According to state leaders, the initiative will return more than $1 billion to taxpayers statewide.
Georgia has issued similar one-time refunds multiple times in recent years, including rounds in 2022, 2023, and 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to provide tax relief.
Revenue officials say the distribution process is already in motion and designed to deliver funds as efficiently as possible once returns are verified.
