The Gordon County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to meet tonight for a session that will include public hearings on several zoning matters, along with action on the county’s proposed budget and other key business items.
Among the zoning requests before the board is a conditional use permit application for a four-house poultry expansion on Old Boone Ford Road. Commissioners will also consider a rezoning request involving approximately 43 acres for the proposed Countryview Estates residential development, which would include 16 residential lots.
In addition to the land-use hearings, commissioners are expected to vote on the formal adoption of the county’s Fiscal Year 2027 budget. The spending plan outlines funding priorities and operations for the upcoming fiscal year.
The board will also consider appointments to several county leadership positions and review the Mountain Area Transit System operating agreement. The agreement requires a local funding match of just under $170,000 to support public transportation services in the region.
The meeting is expected to draw interest from residents affected by the zoning proposals, as well as those following county budget and transportation matters. Public hearings will provide an opportunity for citizens to voice their opinions before commissioners take action on the requests.
County officials encourage residents to attend and participate in the public hearing process as the board considers decisions that could impact future development and county services.
