Mr. Luther Sherfield “Junior” Bedwell, Jr., age 64, of Dalton, departed this life Sunday, May 24, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, following a brief but aggressive battle with Alzheimer's disease. Though diagnosed less than a year ago, the disease progressed rapidly.
Junior was born May 27, 1961, in Dalton, a son of the late Luther S. Bedwell, Sr. and Mattie Lee Pace Bedwell. He was also preceded in death by his brother, David Bedwell; sisters, Judy Bedwell and Lynda Ash; and brother-in-law, Deward Ash.
Junior loved life and cherished every moment spent with his family and friends. He never met a stranger and was known for his joyful spirit, quick wit, and ability to make anyone laugh. A true “cut up,” Junior brought smiles and laughter everywhere he went. He especially loved singing and playing rhythm guitar at church, where his music and warm personality touched many lives. He was a faithful member of Cohutta Hills Community Church.
Junior worked for many years as a concrete truck driver with Basic Concrete, where he was known for his hard work and friendly nature. Above all else, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose love for his family was evident in everything he did.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Faye Randolph Bedwell of the residence; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Stephen Dill; sons, Luther “Jason” Bedwell, III, David Bedwell, and Cody and Amber Vineyard; grandchildren, Sean Dill, Bradon Dill, Ethan Shook, Kaiden Bedwell, Bentley Bedwell, Peigthtyn Bedwell, Brooklyn Vineyard, Rhylee Vineyard, Haven Searcy, and Draven Searcy; great-grandsons, Colin and Ashton Dill; sisters, Barbara and Mike Moore, Nancy Phan, and Betty and Tommy Self; mother-in-law, Dorothy Randolph; sister-in-law, Carol Susie Sullivan; brother-in-law, Michael Randolph; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Luther Sherfield “Junior” Bedwell, Jr. will be held Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. at Cohutta Hills Community Church, 5551 Red Clay Rd., Cohutta, GA 30710, with Reverend Junior Williams and Reverend Sam Randolph officiating. He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery with Stephen Dill, Jason Bedwell, David Bedwell, Cody Vineyard, Adam Randolph, and Franklin Randolph honored to serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday morning after 10:00 a.m. until the service hour.
