Property Assessment Notice
The Gordon County Board of Assessors is notifying property owners of their 2026 assessments. Please note the following:
This notice is not a tax bill; final property tax amounts cannot be calculated until millage rates are adopted later this year.
The notice informs owners of their property’s 2026 fair market value as of January 1, 2026, and lists applied exemptions.
Owners are encouraged to verify their information; if any details are incorrect, there is a 45-day appeal period, with a final deadline of August 14, 2026.
For assistance, contact the Board of Assessors at (706) 629-6812 or visit gordonassessors.com.
Operation Southern Slow Down & First Responder Partnership
On today’s broadcast, we were joined by Captain Christy Nicholson to discuss “Operation Southern Slow Down,” a multi-state enforcement campaign running through July 19 that targets speeding, aggressive driving, and impaired driving.
We also highlighted the “First to Respond, First to Serve” food drive, a collaborative effort between our local first responders and the Veterans Affairs Council (VAC) to support the community.
Health Advisory
Health officials are monitoring a multistate outbreak of cyclosporiasis.
While there are no known Georgia-specific outbreaks, the Georgia Department of Public Health encourages residents to practice good food hygiene: wash hands, rinse fresh produce thoroughly, use a produce brush on firm items, and refrigerate cut or cooked produce promptly.
Economic Outlook
Q2 2026 financial reports indicate that banks are tightening credit as they hedge against economic uncertainty.
We are operating within a “K-shaped” economy where, for working-class families, prices for essentials remain high while interest rates persist.
Sales tax data shows that collections are high primarily due to increased prices, rather than higher volumes of goods sold.
Experts advise that now is the time to prioritize necessities—including automotive maintenance and home repairs—as a defensive strategy for household stability.
