Gordon County Sheriff Mitch Ralston has announced the arrest of two men following a multi-week investigation into methamphetamine trafficking at a residence on Landon Court near Calhoun.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Drug Enforcement detectives launched the investigation in September after receiving reports of illegal drug activity at a private residence in the neighborhood.
On the evening of October 23, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Dews Pond Road and arrested Bruce Sterling Peace, age 63, who reported an address in Trion, Georgia. Deputies recovered a large quantity of methamphetamine during the stop. Peace was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Gordon County Jail.
The investigation continued, and on November 6, deputies arrested Michael Simpson, age 66, of 129 Landon Court, during a stop at a convenience store in the Scottsville community. Simpson was also found in possession of a substantial amount of methamphetamine and was taken into custody without incident. He was subsequently booked into the county jail alongside Peace.
Both Peace and Simpson have been charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine and other related offenses. Authorities report that Peace is currently serving a 40-year probation sentence stemming from a 2002 meth manufacturing conviction in Chattooga County. Simpson’s criminal history includes nine drug-related arrests or convictions dating back to 1989.
As of this release, both men remain in custody awaiting upcoming court appearances.
