Sonoraville High School JROTC Cadet Serenidy Wood has been selected to attend Georgia Girls State, a highly respected leadership and civic education program sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary.
Wood earned the honor based on her strong leadership potential, academic excellence, and demonstrated commitment to service. Selection for Georgia Girls State is considered a significant achievement for high school juniors across the state.
The week-long program, open to girls completing their junior year in May 2026, offers an immersive, hands-on experience in government operations. Participants engage in a comprehensive simulation of city, county, and state government, gaining practical insight into civic responsibility, public service, and leadership.
Georgia Girls State is designed to inspire young women to become informed and active citizens while developing the leadership skills needed to make a positive impact in their communities.
