Motorists in Gordon County should prepare for a temporary road closure next week as crews perform work at a local railroad crossing.
Weather permitting, the State Route 136/Nickelsville Road railroad crossing at U.S. Highway 41 will be closed beginning Tuesday, March 10, through Thursday, March 12.
During the closure, a detour will be in place to help direct traffic around the work area. Drivers traveling on the west side of the railroad crossing will be routed south on U.S. Highway 41 to State Route 225, then north on SR 225 back to SR 136.
Officials advise motorists to expect delays and to use caution while traveling through the area. Drivers are also encouraged to slow down and remain alert for crews who may be working near the roadway.
The closure is expected to last through March 12, weather permitting.
