United We Read Back to School Bash and Kids Race Coming to Calhoun

Families are invited to celebrate the start of a new school year at the United We Read Back to School Bash and AGC Pediatrics Kids Race on Friday, Aug. 7, at the NWGA Agriculture & Events Center in Calhoun.

The free community event will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the center, located at 1070 Liberty Road SW, and will feature an evening of family-friendly activities, community resources, and races for children of all ages.

The AGC Pediatrics Kids Race, presented by Chick-fil-A, will include several age-based events throughout the evening. The race schedule includes:

• 6:00 p.m. – Fastest Crawler
• 6:30 p.m. – Toddler Run
• 7:00 p.m. – Quarter-mile race for ages 3-5
• 7:30 p.m. – 1K race for ages 5-7
• 8:00 p.m. – 1K race for ages 8-12

Families are encouraged to register for the races in advance by scanning the QR code on the event flyer.

In addition to the races, attendees can learn about educational programs and community resources through United We Read, an initiative focused on bringing books, resources, and hope to children and families throughout Gordon County.

The event is sponsored by United We Read, United Way of Gordon County, AGC Pediatrics, Chick-fil-A, Calhoun-Gordon Community Foundation, Fair’s Air Service & Repair LLC, the Northwest Georgia Literacy Foundation, Shaw, and other community partners.

Admission is free, and organizers invite the community to come out for an evening of fun, fitness, and back-to-school celebration.
