Gordon County is bracing for the arrival of severe weather as Hurricane Isaias continues to intensify ahead of its Gulf Coast landfall. Local emergency officials and meteorologists are urging residents to finalize preparations now. Gordon County Emergency Management Director Courtney Taylor, joined on the air by Sheriff Mitch Ralston and Chief Meteorologist Patrick Core, noted that a High Wind Watch is in effect locally from 7 a.m. Saturday until 7 a.m. Sunday. Forecasters anticipate sustained winds between 20 and 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, alongside heavy rainfall, isolated flash flooding, and a significant Saturday tornado threat. Residents are urged to secure all outdoor items today, prepare for prolonged power outages and downed trees, and ensure multiple active methods are in place to receive emergency warnings throughout the weekend.
