A Gordon County nonprofit medical clinic is set to receive federal funding to expand services and improve its facility, as part of a broader effort to enhance health care access across North Georgia.
The Healing Hands Clinic of Gordon County has been awarded $190,000 to support upgrades at its location, including the addition of treatment rooms, roof repairs, and the purchase of new medical and office equipment. The clinic provides free medical care to residents in need throughout Gordon County.
Clinic Director Kimberly Gowens said the funding will directly benefit patients who rely on the facility for care.
“This funding is such a blessing and will help us better serve those in need in Gordon County,” Gowens said.
The funding is part of a larger package secured through bipartisan federal legislation supported by U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff. The measure includes investments in several health care initiatives across metro Atlanta and North Georgia, such as expanded transportation services in Rome and new medical equipment for a rural hospital in Union County.
According to Sen. Ossoff, the effort focused on bringing together lawmakers from both parties to address gaps in access to care, particularly in underserved and rural communities.
The legislation providing the funding was signed into law on February 3. Local officials say the investment in Gordon County will help strengthen health care access for residents who depend on the clinic’s services.
