Gordon County Deputies Arrest Fugitive Wanted in South Dakota and Oklahoma

A man wanted by authorities in both South Dakota and Oklahoma has been arrested in Gordon County following a traffic stop by sheriff’s deputies.

According to the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office, deputies on patrol stopped a suspicious vehicle on Dews Pond Road near Calhoun on Friday, July 31.

The driver was identified as 35-year-old Jake Esley, who provided booking officers with a Baker Road address.

Authorities said Esley was wanted by the South Dakota Department of Corrections for allegedly violating parole. He was also wanted by authorities in Oklahoma on drug and firearms charges.

The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office said officers from South Dakota are traveling to Gordon County to take custody of Esley and transport him back to that state.

No additional details about the underlying charges or the circumstances surrounding the traffic stop have been released.
