Helen J. Asbury, age 86, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025, after a brief illness. She was born in Grapevine, West Virginia, on February 19, 1939, to the late James Ballard Delp and Nancy Muncy Delp.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Norman Lee Asbury; daughter, Debra A. Mahone; siblings, Bill Delp, Alma Bowles, and Aldie Delp.
Helen was a member of Memorial Church of Christ in Princeton, West Virginia.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and David Holder, Lorea and Steve Albert; siblings, Dean Delp, Lorraine Craig, Phyllis Jenkins, Dorothy Richardson, Marlene Hensley, and Teresa Dunford; grandchildren, Candice Godfrey, Evan Bailey, Lauren Brueggert, Lindsey Hanoski, and John Hanoski; great-grandchildren, Kayden Godfrey, Cole Godfrey, and Coy Godfrey. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM at New Town Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be held on September 19, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Newtown Baptist Church with Pastor Brandon Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving are Christian Brueggert, Cole Godfrey, Coy Godfrey, Richard Bowles, Scott Delp, and Mark Sweeney. Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Delp and Mike Asbury.
