Howard Alonzo Fortenberry
July 14, 1952 — October 20, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Howard Alonzo Fortenberry, who passed away peacefully at the age of 73. Howard was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, known for his sharp sense of humor and infectious laughter. He worked as a skilled welder for many years and had a deep love for Georgia football, country music, and, of course, horror movies. He especially enjoyed watching scary movies with his grandsons, sharing moments that will be treasured forever.

Howard was the son of the late Mavis Lucille Fortenberry and Troy Johnson Fortenberry. He was a loving brother to Sam Fortenberry and the late Pat Fortenberry, Johnson Fortenberry, and Mark Fortenberry. He is survived by his daughters, Tia Conner, Cristie Turner, and Michelle Botts; his sons, Roger Botts, William Botts, and Dwight Botts; and his cherished grandchildren, Gavin Hardy, Gabriel Hardy, Ashley Beck, Jaimie Beck, Amber Turner, Layla Beck, and Ava Hendrix.

Howard’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. In lieu of a memorial service, the family asks that you remember Howard by enjoying the simple pleasures that brought him joy whether it be listening to country music, watching a Georgia game, or sharing a laugh with loved ones. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family of Howard Alonzo Fortenberry.
