Georgia Duck Hunting Season Opens Nov. 22; Early Youth and Military Hunt Nov. 15–16

Georgia waterfowl hunters will return to the marshes and lakes later this month as the state’s duck hunting season officially opens Saturday, Nov. 22, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division (WRD). Youth, veterans, and active-duty military personnel will again receive an early two-day hunting opportunity on Nov. 15–16.

WRD migratory gamebird biologist Kara Nitschke noted that hunters can expect familiar rules this year. “There are no significant changes to season lengths or bag limits for the regular waterfowl season,” Nitschke said. “Be sure to consult the regulations, either online or in the popular guide, for species-specific daily bag limits. And always check whether you’ve harvested a banded bird. Band data is crucial to ensuring the maximum possible harvest opportunity can be offered.”

The full 2025–2026 duck season will run Nov. 22–30 and reopen Dec. 6 through Jan. 25. Complete migratory bird regulations, including bag limits and identification details, are available at GeorgiaWildlife.com/migratory-bird-info.
