A Murray County teacher faces multiple charges following a high-speed chase and wreck in Gordon County. Late last week, authorities spotted a vehicle traveling at high speeds on I-75 south, leading to a pursuit that ended in a crash near the Calhoun exits. The driver, identified as an educator from the Murray County School System, was taken into custody by the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office. In addition to traffic violations related to the wreck, the individual faces charges of DUI and child endangerment, as a minor was reportedly in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Relief at the Pump: Gas Prices Dip Below State Average
Gordon County drivers are seeing some much-needed relief this week as local gas prices trend downward. While the national average has spiked to $4.01 due to global tensions, the suspension of Georgia’s state gas tax continues to keep local costs lower.
* Gordon County Average: Regular unleaded is currently sitting at $3.56 per gallon.
* Comparison: This is slightly lower than the Georgia state average of $3.58 and significantly cheaper than the $3.65 average seen in metro Atlanta.
* Trend: Prices are down roughly 11 cents from last week, though officials warn that seasonal demand could push prices back up by mid-April.
